How to Cancel Webflow
Need to cancel your Webflow subscription? This guide will walk you through the cancellation process step-by-step. Whether you subscribed directly through Webflow's website, we'll show you exactly how to cancel.
Important: If you downgrade your paid Site plan to the free Starter Site plan, your paid features stay until the end of your current billing period. You do not automatically receive credit for unused time on a paid Site plan when downgrading to Starter. For details on proration and refunds, see Webflow’s billing help.
Step 1: Open Site Plans
Go to Site settings → Plans → Website tab.
Step 2: Start Downgrade
Choose Downgrade to Starter.
Step 3: Continue to Downgrade
Click Continue to downgrade to proceed.
Step 4: Reason (Optional)
If asked, you can choose a reason for downgrading. This step is optional.
Step 5: Confirm
Click Downgrade to Starter to confirm. Your paid Site plan features will remain until the end of your current billing period; after that, your site will be on the free Starter Site plan.
Troubleshooting
- Open Site settings → Plans → Website tab
- Choose Downgrade to Starter → Continue to downgrade → (optional) reason → Downgrade to Starter
- Make sure you're in the correct site and account
- Clear your browser cache and cookies if the page doesn’t load
If you have multiple Workspaces, make sure you're canceling the correct one:
- Check which Workspace contains the projects you want to cancel
- Each Workspace has its own billing and subscription
- You may need to switch Workspaces in your dashboard first
Before canceling, you can export your sites:
- In the Designer, go to Project Settings > Export
- Or use Webflow's export feature to download your site code
- Export your CMS content separately if needed
- This allows you to host your sites elsewhere after cancellation
Your published sites will be taken offline after your subscription expires. The sites will become inaccessible unless you:
- Reactivate your subscription within the grace period
- Export and host your sites elsewhere before cancellation
- Downgrade to a plan that includes hosting (if available)
Your projects and designs will remain in your account for a grace period (typically 30 days), but you won't be able to publish or edit them without an active subscription. Export your projects before canceling if you want to preserve your work.
To move to the free Starter Site plan:
- Go to Site settings → Plans → Website tab
- Use Downgrade to Starter (then Continue to downgrade → optional reason → Downgrade to Starter) to keep paid features until the end of your billing period
- You can upgrade again later if needed
Webflow doesn't offer a pause option. However, you can:
- Cancel and reactivate anytime within the grace period
- Export your sites before canceling to preserve them
- Your projects may be available for reactivation after cancellation
- Check your email for a confirmation from Webflow
- If you chose “at end of billing period,” verify the downgrade date matches when your current period ends
- Make sure you completed the flow: Site settings → Plans → Website tab → Downgrade to Starter (or Downgrade now) and confirmed
- Contact Webflow Support if charges continue after that date
If you have custom domains connected:
- You'll need to update DNS settings if you export and host elsewhere
- Domains purchased through Webflow may need to be transferred
- Contact Webflow support for domain transfer assistance
Additional Information
- Reactivation: You can reactivate your Webflow subscription anytime within the grace period by visiting webflow.com or through Account Settings
- Site Export: Export your sites before canceling to host them elsewhere or preserve your work
- Projects: Projects remain in your account during the grace period but can't be published without an active subscription
- CMS Content: Export your CMS content separately if you want to preserve it
- Domain Management: Contact support for assistance with domain transfers
- Grace Period: Projects and content may be available for reactivation within a limited grace period after cancellation
