How to Cancel Buffer
Need to cancel your Buffer subscription? This guide will walk you through the cancellation process step-by-step. Whether you subscribed directly through Buffer's website or through a mobile app, we'll show you exactly how to cancel.
Note: After canceling, you'll retain access to Buffer premium features until the end of your current billing period. Your account will be downgraded to the Free plan after your subscription expires, but your scheduled posts and historical data will be preserved for a limited time.
Step 1: Open Billing
From your dashboard, click your profile avatar in the bottom left. In the dropdown, select Billing. You can also go directly to account.buffer.com/billing.
Step 2: Open the Plan Menu
On the billing page, click the three vertical dots.
Step 3: Cancel Your Plan
Select Cancel Plan. Your plan stays active and you can keep using it until the end of your current billing period.
Troubleshooting
- Click your profile avatar (bottom left of the dashboard) → select Billing from the dropdown, or open account.buffer.com/billing
- On the billing page, click the three vertical dots and choose Cancel Plan
- If you're on the Free plan, there’s nothing to cancel
- Clear your browser cache and cookies if the page doesn’t load
If you subscribed through Apple App Store or Google Play, you'll need to cancel through that platform's subscription management system, not through Buffer's website.
Monthly subscriptions can typically be canceled anytime without fees:
- Cancel before your next billing date to avoid being charged
- You'll retain access until the end of your current billing period
- No early termination fees apply to monthly plans
If you want to keep using Buffer with fewer features:
- Choose "Downgrade to Free" or select a lower-tier plan

- Posts scheduled before cancellation may still be published
- Review and manage your scheduled posts before canceling
- Some scheduled posts may not publish after subscription ends
- Export your content calendar if needed
Your analytics and historical data may be preserved for a limited time:
- Some data may be accessible in Free plan
- Export important analytics reports before canceling
- Historical data access may be limited after subscription ends
- Contact support to understand data retention policies
